Two grand for glasses
Optometry center of a children's hospital
On Friday afternoon, the optometry center of a children's hospital was crowded with people. In four glass display cases, nearly 100 types of glasses make people cross eyes. Parents kept asking opticians which one to choose, and the line stretched from the counter to the hallway 3 meters away, with those at the end of the line waiting at least half an hour.
"It's too expensive to buy glasses for kids these days. You can't afford them without thousands of yuan." Ms. Zheng is giving her daughter the choice of glasses, she took the price list from the optician straight sigh, more than 10 pages of the price list, dozens of different brands of lens types, there is no one lens price below 800 yuan, plus a brand frame and optometry costs, the total price easily exceeded 2000 yuan.
Aspherical surface, transmission ratio, Abbe number... Listening to the optician's mouth one after another out of the professional terms, Ms. Zheng frown. "I just wanted to choose good quality glasses for my child, but I had no idea how." Ms. Zheng said her daughter, who is in third grade, has 500 degrees of myopia. Subconsciously, Ms. Zheng thinks that the high probability of expensive glasses is good, and under the strong recommendation of the optician, she finally bought a pair of glasses with aspherical lenses and titanium alloy frames, with a total price of 2199 yuan.

Brand eyewear shop near Dawang Road
Near Dawang Road is a luxuriously decorated brand eyewear shop, where prices are equally staggering. The walls of the shop are plastered with posters of a celebrity, and the display cases are filled with different styles of glasses, both domestic and imported.
"Have you come to fix the child's glasses? It's the back-to-school season promotion and you have the chance to get 20% off!" Shop guide learned that Ms. Wang's daughter Jing Jing is the first time to get glasses, quite excited: "You are in the right place, we have a professional optometrist in the store, you are satisfied." Then, Ms. Wang and Jingjing followed the buyer into the optometry room.
In contrast to the open facade, the cramped optometry room can only accommodate four people and is dimly lit. After a 5-minute eye test, the optometrist performed another optometry for Jingjing and printed out an electronic optometry sheet that showed Jingjing's left eye at 200 degrees and her right eye at 150 degrees.
"The child is only 7 years old, need to pay attention to, you can wear defocus lenses to prevent myopia deepening." The buyer took out the price list and calculator and began to sell the glasses: "This Japanese defocus lens is the most popular, 4980 yuan, if paired with a 900 yuan frame, not only can be 50% off, but also free optometry." Finally, Ms. Wang bought a pair of glasses with anti-blue light function, which cost a total of 2940 yuan.

A store in Optician City
"Glasses? Come and see my house." On the elevator of Panjiayuan subway station, Huang Boss of an optics-store in Beijing Eyewear City enthusiastically handed out business cards with bold characters highlighting "factory directly operated, eye hospital delivery channel", while the price was clearly marked on the back: 88 yuan for a pair of domestic brand frames and 188 yuan for domestic brand lenses; A pair of imported brand frames 188 yuan......
When the reporter expressed the hope of selecting children's glasses, Huang Boss said that he had operated an optical shop for more than 20 years, which could be sold at wholesale prices and optometry was free. Afterward, Sheeran led reporters into his shop in Beijing's Eyewear city. The shop is small, with five counters filled with frames from unknown and international brands. "If you don't pursue brands, a pair of glasses can be bought for less than 300 yuan, and if you need high-end lenses such as Zeiss and Essilor, we are cheaper than other places." With that, Sheeran pulled out a box of Zeiss lenses from under the counter. From the outer packaging, these lenses are indistinguishable from the same ones sold by hospitals, and they also have a certificate of conformity.
