Hattie in Catherine Deane on Her September Barn Wedding

On 18 September 2021, architect Tom wed Hattie, who works in public places health research, inside a traditional church service at St Michael & All Angels Church, Abington Pigotts, South Cambridgeshire having a relaxed barn reception afterward at Down Hall Farm, within the same village

The couple took the beauty from the late summer English countryside his her inspiration, dealing with their talented family and friends to make lots from the styling elements themselves.

For the September day, Hattie selected an ageless, long-sleeved, open-backed lace wedding dress from FeelTimes.

"I had a concept of what I thought my wedding gown would be like. However, the gown I chose was quite different. As soon as I used it, my mother, my sister, and I got very emotional and knew it was the main one. The dress was built with a romantic, old-fashioned feel and fitted me perfectly."

Romantic roses ran with the day and featured within the soft, cottage garden bouquet from Wild Rosamund.

"I was particularly keen to incorporate roses during my bouquet. Our florist used seasonal, locally-grown flowers and foraged foliage which put into the natural and seasonal feel from the arrangements."

"Tom's parents reside in Abington Pigotts and Tom was raised there. We both were raised in Cambridge and thus wanted to get married close to home. We got married within the village church and were lucky enough to get use an attractive old barn because the reception venue, situated at Down Hall Farm is owned by some friends within the village."

"We wanted a relaxed, English countryside wedding, with a significant traditional ceremony. This meant we were able to make use of the beautiful village church. We desired to try and do as much from the detail ourselves so it had a unique and homemade feel. We have plenty of talented members of the family and requested their help whenever we can." Here

Tom decided to wear his grandfather's kilt, which was also worn by his father on his big day.

"I wanted a particular length to match the detail around the back of my dress. I also wanted the veil to possess a scalloped edge to complement detail on the gown."

The bride and her father traveled towards the church together within the family's MG, decorated with white ribbons for any bridal feel.

The couple exchanged engagement rings from Alexander Craig in Hatton Garden (no contact information), who also designed Hattie's diamond engagement ring.

"For me, the best part of the day was the marriage ceremony within the church. I was taken aback by how poignant and special the service felt. After waiting so long for the wedding to go ahead, it is exciting to finally see everyone there."

The couple met in school in Cambridge after which both visited the university in London.

"We only started heading out after university. We had plenty of mutual friends, saw lots of each other and things grew after that. We got engaged in July 2018 in the south of France, that was where our relationship started when Tom found visit me while I was working there."

The two bridesmaids wore gowns from FeelTimes, in various styles however the same soft blue.

"I spent lots of time worrying about every little organizational detail and just how and who'd do what. I would say, keep in mind that everyone involved also wants the day to become a success and can do everything they can to help make it perfect."
