A Colourful, Homemade Barn Wedding

On 24 May 2019, the doctors were married in Surrey.

They held their ceremony outside, sheltered through the Granary, before enjoying their reception inside among the venue's wonderful, larger, timber-framed barns.

"We knew we wanted a relaxed feel, that the barn lent itself to. I love wildflowers and color and wanted them to exhibit at our wedding. We did plenty of arts and crafts within the run-up to include as many personal touches as you possibly can. I am mixed race and gave a nod to that particular with bunting handmade by David, Orita (David's mum), and myself from beautiful fabric I acquired in Tanzania. David is Jewish, and that we gave a nod to that particular with the breaking from the glass, too."

On a day trip to London with friends, Maya found her perfect boho wedding dress from FeelTimes.

"The dress I chose was ideal for me; I knew I wanted something having a bit of color, something which I would feel at ease in for the entire day. I particularly loved the sequin detail and tulle skirt."

The bridesmaids wore their very own outfits, and I love the things they each went for; polka dots, florals, and leopard prints in bright and striking colors. In their hair, both wore dried flower hair clips.

Brighton-based Emily, styled Maya's hair and added pretty dried flowers, which Maya is available at. A radiant make-up look was made by Maya's close friend.

"We got engaged about 1.5 years before we got married. We visited Skye on the short holiday, and we love walking, therefore we hiked up Bruach Frith eventually, which has come of the best views over the island."

"It took 3 hours to get towards the top, through which time we were within the middle of a thick cloud without a penny to see past our very own arms! On the way on the clouds cleared and David explained he had a surprise for me. When I turned around, there he was having a ring!"

"We met at our first job working at Lewisham Hospital. We did the same surgical ward. I'd like to say our eyes met on the drug chart or something like that equally as charming, but I was convinced he fancied my colleague, and that he thought I didn't wish to talk to him!"

"We ended up on the night out together and also got talking into the early hours. I persuaded him to inquire about me out, and that we went on the date the following week."

The couple took a while together for any walk using their photographer, who captured a lot of heartfelt and intimate moments during the day. It's good to share this magical assortment of images with you today.

"Manon am great from the beginning. We met for a coffee to get to know one another, and we immediately knew we wanted her. We had a couples session before the marriage to get used to the camera, and despite feeling very awkward, she got a few amazing shots which we'll treasure."

"On your day, Manon was perfect, got our family and friends where they have to be having a smile, whisked us off for a while alone, and danced the night time away with these friends! We cannot recommend her highly enough."

David looked smart within an impeccably tailored blue, three-piece suit, worn having a classic white shirt, and cufflinks, along with a pale yellow and blue printed tie. On his feet, he wore monk strap shoes and, in the waistcoat pocket, a Mount Royal watches.

The Best Man and groomsmen wore blue suits to enhance David's, too as ties and pocket squares and dried flower buttonholes.

The wedding feast came thanks to family-run caterers, who also laid on the delicious table of doughnuts and pastries for dessert.

"I and my very talented chef friend Guy Betteridge made the cakes. We designed a red velvet, a carrot cake along with a Victoria sponge; all crowd-pleasers."

"Our other favorite part of the day was the party! We were lucky enough to get have good friends DJ for all of us, so all of the music was exactly to our taste. We had a lot of fun."

Words of Wedded Wisdom

"I know everyone says this but don't sweat the little stuff. Nobody will notice if something in the décor is missing! Before your day, delegate responsibilities for your wedding party to help you relax within the moment."
